My name is Collin Petty, I recently obtained by BS in Electrical Engineering and have enjoyed learning in a hands on way for a long time now. I’m a firm believer that books are great for theory and that the real learning is done in the lab, one is not necessarily more important than the other though. A while back while doing some preliminary work for my senior design project I posted some videos to YouTube demonstrating some of the work I was doing on individual components of the project. I was recently contacted by someone asking for some help setting up a similar device to what I built in one of my videos, in this case a setup with two AVRs communicating over TWI. As I was rebuilding the setup in the video and going over some of the code I realized that I had a lot more to learn about TWI before I could actually explain to someone what was going on, I was forced to learn in more depth what I had used previously.
After, a friend of mine suggested that I perhaps start a blog when doing projects in order to try to explain to others what I’m learning for myself. Not necessarily to teach others EE; but rather, to understand the concepts at a personal level to the point where I can explain them to others ultimately helping myself to better understand. So here it is… my blog…
